The customer is responsible for disconnecting and reconnecting items including:
-
Washing machines
-
Dishwashers
-
Cookers
-
Fridges and freezers
-
Other electrical or plumbed-in appliances
We recommend using a suitably qualified professional where necessary.
Fridges and freezers must be emptied and prepared for transport before we arrive. Where applicable, the customer is responsible for fitting any required transit bolts or securing devices.
After transportation, please follow the appliance manufacturer's instructions regarding how long the appliance should remain upright before being switched on.
Customer-Packed Boxes & Belongings
Customers are responsible for ensuring that boxes, bags and other containers they pack themselves are suitably packed and strong enough for transportation.
Fragile or valuable items must be adequately protected.
Subject to applicable law and the terms of our insurance, we cannot accept responsibility for damage to the contents of customer-packed boxes where there is no evidence that the damage resulted from our handling or negligence.
Health & Safety
We reserve the right to refuse to move any item or undertake any part of a job that we reasonably consider unsafe or likely to cause injury or damage.
This may include:
-
Unsafe staircases or access routes
-
Excessively heavy or unstable items
-
Furniture that cannot safely pass through an entrance or staircase
-
Unsafe loft access
-
Items requiring specialist lifting equipment
-
Situations that present a risk to our team, the customer, the property or the goods being moved
If we advise that an item cannot safely be moved through a particular access point without a significant risk of damage, alternative arrangements may be required.

Unless specifically agreed with us in writing before the move, we do not transport:

Cash, deeds, securities, stamps or coins

Clean Van Guarantee
Our removal van is dedicated to household and office removals.
We do not provide rubbish clearance, household waste disposal, garden waste removal or general waste collection services.
This helps us keep our vehicle clean and suitable for transporting furniture and personal belongings.
Insurance
Shift It Man and Van Removals carries:
-
Hire & Reward insurance
-
Goods in Transit insurance up to £10,000
-
Public Liability insurance up to £2,000,000
Our insurance is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and excesses imposed by our insurers.
The current Goods in Transit policy carries a £250 excess, which is the customer's responsibility where applicable to a claim.
Customers should tell us before booking if any individual item is particularly valuable, fragile or unusual so that we can confirm whether it can be transported and whether any additional arrangements are required.
Reporting Damage
Any visible loss or damage should be reported to our team as soon as reasonably possible and preferably before we leave the delivery address.
If damage is discovered after the move, please contact us promptly with details and photographs so that the circumstances can be investigated.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Parking & Access
The customer is responsible for ensuring suitable access and parking at the collection and delivery addresses.
Where parking permits, parking charges or other access fees are required to complete the move, these costs are the customer's responsibility unless otherwise agreed.
Our quotation assumes that we can park reasonably close to the property, normally within approximately 10 metres of the entrance.
Please tell us before booking if:
-
Parking is restricted
-
A parking permit is required
-
The vehicle cannot park close to the property
-
There is a long walking distance between the property and the vehicle
-
There are stairs or multiple flights of stairs
-
There is no lift
-
Access is unusually narrow or restricted
-
There are other circumstances that could substantially affect loading or unloading
If the access conditions differ significantly from those described when the quotation was provided, additional time or charges may apply.
Quotes & Estimated Times
We prepare quotations based on the information supplied by the customer.
Where a job is charged according to time, any estimate of the likely duration is an estimate only. The actual time required can be affected by traffic, access, parking, stairs, lifts, the quantity of belongings and other circumstances.
Where a fixed quotation has been provided, we reserve the right to revise the quotation if the information supplied when booking was materially inaccurate or the requirements of the move change.
Examples include:
-
A significant increase in the quantity of goods
-
Additional furniture or belongings not previously disclosed
-
Different collection or delivery addresses
-
Additional floors or stairs
-
Unexpectedly difficult access
-
Additional dismantling or reassembly
-
Additional work requested on moving day
-
Items requiring additional preparation to move safely
We will explain any material change to the agreed price where reasonably possible before carrying out additional work.

If you cancel or postpone a confirmed booking, the following charges may apply:
-
More than 7 days before the scheduled move: No cancellation charge
-
Less than 7 days before the scheduled move: Up to 50% of the agreed removal charge
-
On the scheduled moving day or after work has commenced: Up to 100% of the agreed removal charge
If you need to change your moving date, please contact us as early as possible. Any replacement date will be subject to availability.

Floors and staircases
-
Lift availability
-
Parking restrictions

We will make reasonable efforts to arrive and complete your move at the agreed time.
However, circumstances outside our reasonable control can occasionally cause delays, including severe traffic disruption, road closures, accidents, extreme weather, vehicle breakdowns or other unforeseen events.
